cache definition: a safe place to store things, including memory

“Sky Cache” is inspired by the reflection of the sky on the water, tying them together into one continuous plane.

This enclosed concrete pier in the middle of the Jersey City boardwalk is a strange sight. It is framed by fencing as if it’s an exhibit, but the circluar plane has no apparent function, a startling contrast to the dazzling view across the river. By applying mirrored panels to the pier, and adding hovering mirrors over the enclosed river area, “Sky Cache” gathers all the surrounding elements together within this oddly vacant focal point: the towering skyline, the curiosity of passersby, the rhythm of waves crashing below, and the expanse of the river stretching to the horizon beyond.
