View from outside of gallery “Overgrowth Industry” was created from abandoned boxes of packaging materials left behind in a warehouse after Benevolent Beauty Products closed its doors for good. Dodd writes, “Thousands of assorted boxes, lipstick tubes, nail files, and more have become my building blocks as I explore the inherent geometry of the material and the new aggregate forms that might be possible. I liken the process of building with these materials to my understanding of evolution; many small parts that are propelled by some sort of life force to combine and grow. I think of each installation as a landscape, or an ecosystem, each material with a specific role to play. Ultimately, the work is experienced and then discarded, just as the materials would have been in the first place without my intervention. The entire endeavor begs the question - what role will our waste play in the future?”
